Outcome 3

I have looked at photography jobs and annotated the problems with these jobs.
By looking at what I need for jobs can help me to problem solve my career by working on the experience I will need to get the job I want.

I have also looked at places where I can display my work and advertise myself as a photographer. I have done this by joining websites such as Ideastap, linkedin and the AOP.
You can see my linked in and Ideastap account in outcome 3.

In order for my work to be seen by a wider range of people, I believe I should create portfolios on major social networking sites. By doing this my work and name will be more accessible and therefore more noticable.

I’ve also looked a Q&A with a photographer representer, therefore giving me more information I can use to get the attention of agencies.

Choosing a place to get images printed. outcome 3.

I decided to get my images printed by the print space.

Before I did this I decided to look through their website and read through some of the reviews they have attached to their website in order to make sure I was going to be happy with my images.
which you can look at here: https://www.theprintspace.co.uk/Reviews

I also decided to read through their FAQ so that I would be fully informed about the process, production time, dispatch times and opening times.
You can find this information in outcome 3.

This information belongs in both outcome 3 and outcome 6.

It belongs in outcome 3 because it helped me to evaluate whether it would be a good choice to have my images printed by them, and therefore allowed to me problem solve the issue of choosing a place to print my images.

This information also belongs in outcome 6, due to it being a decision I made that would allow me to adhere to the set deadlines of the course.

Photographers; outcome one/four.

I have looked into 3 photographers and two agencies.

You can see examples of the photographers work in outcome one.
I will also provide links to websites.

Timothy Hogan:
http://www.timothy-hogan.com
I looked at his photography, in particular I looked at his sunglasses work. I did this because I was interested in how he portrayed sunglasses because I was photographing sunglasses and I wasn’t certain how I would photograph them.
He photographed the glasses at different angles and upon models.
Even though I didn’t copy any styling he did with the glasses, having looked at his work it did inspire me by the use of bold colours he used within his work.
You can see some of his sunglasses photography in outcome one.

MBK:
http://www.mbklondon.com
MBK is an agency run by Mark Brian Kenny (aka MBK).
He has been a photographer and videographer for many years.
Due to the experience he’s gained he has been able to create an agency that represents some very creative commercial photographers in the world.
I looked at this agency due to it’s representing creative commercial photographers that are currently working in the world.
This particular section of this post is in relation to outcome 4. Due to this being related to professional practice because I feel that this would be an agency I would like to work for.

MINK MGMT:
http://minkmgmt.com
MINK MGMT is another agency i’ve been looking at.
They’re also an agency that represents current creative photographers.
This particular section of this post is in relation to outcome 4. Due to this being related to professional practice because I feel that this would be an agency I would like to work for as well as MBK.

BOHMAN+SJÖSTRAND:
http://minkmgmt.com/bohmansjostrand/
I discovered these photographers through the MINK MGMT website.
I was interested in their photographic work by the colours and patterns that are captured within their photography.
Their ability to create animation within their images is something that I tried to incorporate within my work.
You can see a range of their photography work in outcome one.

Mitch Feinberg:
http://www.mitch.fr
I was shown this photographers work by one of my tutors.
I find his work very interesting by the use of colour, space and texture that he incorporates within many of his images.
I am particularly inspired by his work with perfume bottles where he has incorporated flags of nations using power. Therefore creating eye catching conceptual pieces as well as incorporating colour and texture.
You can find some of his other work as well as the perfume bottle series in outcome one.

Places to see my work published. outcome 3.

I have been looking into places where I could get my university work published.

Since my work is product based, I would not be able to get my images printed in a magazine for advertising. This is because I was not commissioned by the company of the product to produce work for advertising. I have figured out a way to problem solve this.

In order to solve this problem i’ve been looking into places like the AOP and BJP because they both choose student work to publish as a way to show off their creativity into the world without using the work to advertise the products.
All I need to do now is to look through my work and see which images I would like to submit to the BJP. Once i’ve done this, I will submit my work.

You can find information about the BJP in outcome 3 of my folder.

8th Shoot

Incomplete contact print in folder.

Due to a technical error I only have one page of contact prints.
I was copying my images from my SD card to my hard drive and it errored so I lost a proportion of images from this shoot.

Fortunately I had started editing the images I wanted for my final prints, so therefore I  had my final images already backed up on my computer.

Therefore to problem solve this I have included the only images I could salvage from this shoot into my folder so that you’re able to see some of the work I accomplished from this shoot.

This is in relation to outcome 3, by problem solving solutions.

Health and Safety

Working safely within the studio:

As the photographer in the studio I need to make sure everything within the studio is safely stored in it’s correct place before I start. In case an equipment is damaged I need to bring it to the attention of others straight away, so that anyone in the studio with me is safe, and to also avoid being blamed for the damage. I need to be careful of wires if i’m using any and I also need to be aware of changing lighting equipment after use because it will be extremely hot.

Working with products in the studio I need to make sure that I account for every item I use. I also need to make sure I do not drop or accidentally knock anything made of glass over, due to broken glass being a huge safety risk to anyone who comes into contact with it. I need to be aware of any products I use that become flammable near heat so I can make sure to store them correctly and safely before and after I use them.

This coincides with outcome 4, looking at working methodologies and the parameters of professional practice.
It coincides with professional practice because health and safety is a part of working in a professional place of work.
